I feel like I've landed in an Texan diner in a hipster Austin neighbourhood.  There is seriously something wrong with you if you can't find something that suits your fancy here. There is a wide range of breakfast and brunch items plus other things like burgers, sandwiches and salads. Served all day long!

I had the smashed avocado on rye bread with poached eggs. A virtuous breakfast to fill your tummy before a day at work!  The soy cappuccino was also very good. You can veganise a few things on the menu if that is your thing.

Just plain terrible. I first visited a couple of months ago, and I found the coffee pretty abysmal. I didn't review until I tried it again, it may have been a one off. I have to say, still the same.

I ate an Ultimate Burger, £8.50. There was nothing ultimate about it. A very disappointing tasting burger: served in a brioche bun, with cheese, slice of tomato, lettuce and an oddly tasting bacon chutney. Sided with fries and coleslaw.

This place really falls behind the competition, such as Yorks Bakery Cafe, or amazing coffee from Faculty.

    Boston Tea Party

Boston Tea Party is one of my favourite places to eat in Birmingham. Whether we're meeting friends for brunch, having a nice breakfast before doing some shopping or just wasting time before a train; it's one of my go to locations.

Less than a 10 minute walk from New Street national rail station (or Grand Central as some know it now) and the Bullring shopping centre it's far enough out of the way not to be heaving but close enough not to be annoying. It's also right next to both the Victoria Magistrates and Queen Elizabeth II Crown courts so it's often frequented by lawyers and their clients and colleagues.

On this occasion we popped in for a late breakfast before heading back to London after a few days visiting with friends and family. I've tried several things from the menu previously (their Eggs Benedict is to die for) but I wanted to have something different. I also didn't want anything too heavy. I had a look at the menu and decided on a dish with smashed avocado and pumpernickel bread.

You order at the counter here so after a short time queuing I was able to place our order. At the counter they have a fantastic selection on baked goods to tempt you into an impulse buy.

My dish was very tasty - nice healthy fatty avocado cut by an acidic dressing with lemon and chilli on top of chewy rye bread. It's making me hungry just thinking about it!

I also had a double espresso and a homemade lemonade. Rocket fuel and something sweet to balance!

Lucy, always one for a classic, had a bacon roll which look really nice. Henry seemed to enjoy the bacon too.

As I've said before I appreciate restaurants who cater for families and Boston Tea Party did a great job of that. They had high chairs (the classic Ikea white plastic one) and even kids menus and crayons. Henry wasn't interested in the toast and jam we ordered for him but as I mentioned, he really enjoyed the bacon.

Boston Tea Party is one of those restaurants where you can go back time and again and keep trying new and fresh food without disappointment. We'll certainly be visiting again.

I had to be up extra early to take my theory test (ugh) and was looking for a nice place to grab breakfast.  I wandered two blocks away from my test site and stumbled upon this place.  I recognized the name and discovered I had bookmarked it.  Hurray!

This restaurant was a lot larger than it looks on the outside.  Many other reviewers mention how difficult it can be to find a table.  Luckily I was early enough to avoid this problem.  There are chairs, high top tables, small tables, and big tables for groups.  I always like how charming coffee shops can be with seating.  There were many delicious looking baked treats on display and a really nice mason jar set up showing off summer tea drinks.  I was impressed by the interior and set up.

I ordered myself a chai latte (my standard drink if you've read my reviews) and an eggs benedict.  The chai took a big longer than I thought considering the place was pretty empty.  However, it was worth the wait and really sweet and delicious.  The eggs benedict didn't take too much longer. It shocked me how massive it was.  It was one huge english muffin half with two poached eggs, ham, and loaded with hollandaise sauce.  It was good, but too large and was swimming in the sauce. But compared to other coffee shops I've tried it was the cheapest price.

The employees seemed very friendly.  One woman came over during my meal to make sure everything was ok.  I don't see that much in coffee shops.

Don't think this place isn't worth a visit due to my 3 stars.  I still plan on going back someday to try lunch or maybe one of the tasty looking desserts.  It's definitely worth a shot if you're ever in that end of town.
